Style Expressions: The writing is on the wall

All colour and home decor predictions for 2011 are certainly pointing to one thing: Colour!!!

They are also predicting a change in Canadian taste from the safe and neutral. Instead they are trending back into injecting colour and fun into decorating.

BEHR paints have presented some very exciting colour and trend collections for this year; with Exciting names like: Boudoir Goth, Rock & Roll, Danish Twist and Tokyo Pop (as seen bellow).

Tokyo Pop is an “East meets west” youthful fusion of colour and self expression, perfect for studying and entertaining. I love this particular idea of creating a focal point on a wall by painting a single bright wide strip of colour on a white wall. Great look for a teenage girl’s bedroom.

Para paints too have presented some very exiting ideas and colours. Telling us that there are no rules! But to proclaim your space a no neutral zone! Their collection Revive is a new again 70’s look. With deep purples and greens; rich dark colours and shiny sparkling fabrics and texture.

Benjamin Moore Paints presented their Envision colour 2011. With colour collections like Dreamy, Spirited and Soulful.

Lots of rich vibrant colours; lime greens, fuchsias and deep blues. I particularly like the rich blue colour in this photo (lucernAF-530) love the way the book shelve insets have been painted in a grey shade bringing depth and making it into the focal point of the room. The grey sofa compliments the grey in the background and the fuchsia lime green colours give the room a splash of bold colour.

Another favourite of mine in this collection is the vibrant colour on this kitchen (grape green 2027-40) Love this colour, sure to brighten your day! All year round!

Yes the writing is on the wall!! It says COLOUR is here to stay!! So be bold, be creative and have fun.
