Looking at your picture I can see that
the living room area is not very big but narrow. I would
suggest you move the cabinet into the dining room and the
mirror might be better off in a hall entrance or bedroom.
The rug seems the wrong size and I would suggest a white
or cream. The furniture for the living room should be at
scale with the size of the room, be sure to measure room
dimensions before buying anything.
I would suggest you get a sofa and two slip on chairs in
same colour fabric to match your dinning room chairs.
Furniture should be grouped into conversation areas and
away from walls as much as possible. I would suggest you
place the sofa parallel to your window and way from it;
with a sleep on chair at each side and two side tables on
each side of the sofa with a lamp on each table. If you
have no room for the cabinet in the dinning room, I suggest
you centered on the wall and place the sofa on adjacent
wall with the slip on chair parallel to window. Place end
tables on one end of sofa and one in between chairs with
lamps.
Also I suggest painting the living room
and dinning room a muted blue grey colour which would complement
the browns and beige colours of your decor. This continuity
of colour would also make it seemed more spacious.
This colour would also give it a modern and elegant look.
Introduce pillows in lime green and coral as accents colours.
I like your dinning room set and chandelier they are modern.
Take runner off the table to show the lovely wood. A floral
arrangement with light lime and white colors would compliment
the room.
I hope this helps and gives you ideas
as to what you can do with your space.
Thanks Tammy.
